Natural extracts for drainage and against inflammation
Physiobalance Drenante is a food supplement in capsules with Spirea Ulmaria titrated at 0.2% salicylic acid and Bromelain 2500GDU/g. Spirea Ulmaria is a plant present in our territory containing a beta-hydroxy acid, salicylic acid with aspirin-like properties, but without the typical side effects. The properties of this plant are anti-inflammatory and diuretic. Bromelain is a well-known proteolytic enzyme contained in the pineapple stem, with antithrombotic, digestive and diuretic properties, excellent for the skin. Since inflammation occurs through the accumulation of blood in an injured part, bromelain can collaborate in reducing inflammation by helping blood flow, as in the case of ecchymoses or bruises. In combination, these two components make Physiobalance® Drenante a natural anti-inflammatory and a powerful ally against cellulite. Supplements of this type have long been used in the context of varicose veins and varicoceles.
What is Bromelain and what are its applications
As mentioned, bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme, capable of dissolving proteins. This is why it is used in dyspepsia, i.e. against digestive difficulties, also in association with pancreatic extracts. Its main use, however, is as anti-inflammatory and antiedematous mainly in the herbal field. Bromelain is widely used to treat localized inflammation in soft tissues, especially when accompanied by edema or following surgery. The prescription of significant quantities of bromelain in contexts such as varicocele and/or varicose veins (anti-inflammatory effect + anti-edematous effect) is increasingly frequent. Its safety derives from its different mechanism of action: while NSAIDs inhibit cyclooxygenase by blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins, bromelain diverts this synthesis, increasing the production of prostaglandins with anti-inflammatory activity, thus reducing the risk of gastrointestinal damage associated with NSAIDs. Furthermore, by “taking away stale blood” in a tissue, it reduces the effect that the white blood cells themselves have in producing inflammation. Bromelain shows various natural activities, such as antithrombotic, hypotensive action and the ability to dissolve atherosclerotic plaques. It is recognized for its synergistic contribution in antibiotic and anticancer therapies. In local treatment, it acts as a keratolytic, cleaning dead skin near ulcers and burns. An accessory use involves the antidiarrheal property, temporarily deactivating the intestinal receptors of bacterial toxins. The EMA also approved bromelain only for the removal of dead tissue, a technique known as “debridement.”
The Spirea Olmaria: common but effective plant
Although scientific studies are not yet sufficient to make Spirea Ulmaria a medical discovery, this plant, also common to our territory, is rich in useful properties. In fact, meadowsweet is rich in tannins, recognized for their ability to reduce inflammation and mucus. It also contains salicylates, similar to the acetylsalicylic acid found in aspirin. This plant is traditionally recommended to deal with colds, bronchitis, gastric discomfort, heartburn and peptic ulcers. Furthermore, it is indicated for joint problems such as gout, to increase diuresis and as a germicidal agent in bladder infections.
In Physiobalance® Drenante it has a synergy of extracts from the Spirea meadowsweet flower and Bromelain with excellent properties in reducing local inflammation and draining liquids.
Physiobalance® Draining ally for your skin
Cellulite is a pathological state of inflammation. Particularly when this is abundant. The accumulation of small pockets of fat under the skin reduces blood circulation, worsening the condition of the skin and its elasticity. The synergies of diuretic and proteolytic components make Physiobalance® Drenante a useful ally against this type of pathology. Naturally, its use must be associated with a change in diet, an evaluation of the hormonal status (particularly in women), a modulation in sodium (salt) consumption and a good dose of exercise.
